Peloton Compagnon
We have been collaborating with the Belgian company imec on the “Peloton Compagnon”-project for Mobilidata. The project is aimed at improving safety for cyclist groups or smaller arrangements, and it consists of an app and a backend-service. The app collects traces from bicycles and vehicles, which are then sent to the backend-service. The service, that we have designed and implemented, is executed in the Azure cloud environment. The task of the service is to receive and process the traces to generate conflict warnings. The processing builds expected routes and predicted positions of the traces, and if a conflict is detected between a bicycle and a vehicle, a conflict message is triggered. The service also supports ingesting OpenStreetMap data to improve precision, and suppress conflict warnings at conflict free crossings, such as tunnels or bridges.
