HOTS™ is an abbreviation of Hermes Online Traffic Services™, which is a powerful web-based platform for the presentation of processed traffic data.
The HOTS™ platform has been released with these two services:
- Road Surfaces Quality™
- Bike path Surface Quality™
Other services for the HOTS™ platform are planned. Some of these are described here.
Road Surface Quality™
Road Surface Quality™ (RSQ™) is based on crowd-sourced data. The surface quality is measured using a smartphone app where the smartphone is fixed to the windscreen of a car, and the app measures the vibrations of the car while driving. By collecting data from multiple smartphones in the same area, the system estimates the quality of the road surface of each stretch of the road network.
A specific HOTS™ subscription for the Road Surface Quality™ is necessary to see the actual measurements. For the demo user the road surface quality of an area in Kgs. Lyngby, north of Copenhagen, Denmark, is available at no charge.
Bike-path Surface Quality™
Customers who have requested a measurement of the surface quality of bike paths in a given area may see the results of their request using the HOTS™ platform. The results are shown as colours on the bike path according to the measured quality. A video snippet showing the actual bike path when measured is also displayed on the platform.
A specific HOTS™ subscription for the Bike-path Surface Quality™ is necessary to see the actual measurements. For the demo user the bike-path surface quality of an area in Kgs. Lyngby, north of Copenhagen, Denmark, is available at no charge.

Bicycle Insights, Knowledge, and Evaluation™
With the Bicycle Insights, Knowledge, and Evaluation™ (BIKE™) service we bring bicycle data from a number of providers to end-users at the municipal level. Data are collected from an eco-system consisting of e.g., manufacturers of smart bicycle devices.
The HOTS™ BIKE™ service has not yet been released.
Digital Map Quality Assessment™
Digital maps come from a plethora of sources, many with distinct historic origins. We have designed tools for performing quality assurance on individual digital maps or on couplings between maps. This knowledge is vital as the applied technology becomes more and more dependent on automatic and consistent processing. The Digital Map Quallity Assessment™ (DMQ™) results can be presented on the HOTS™ platform for direct visual realization of issues and assessment results.
The HOTS™ DMQ™ service has not yet been released.
