Counting traffic within a municipality can be done in different ways and by using different technologies. If counting is done on an ad hoc basis each count may serve its initial purpose but it may proof to be difficult to reuse the count for an overall scheme, e.g. to measure improvements in accessibility or road safety. Since counting may be costly it is beneficial if it is done in a planned manner to ensure that all vital parts of the municipality are covered and that a true overview of traffic is created. To help with this Hermes Traffic Intelligence, in collaboration with ATKI A/S, offers municipalities to develop count plans that are based on the current traffic, political situation, and position of schools, institutions, and tourist attractions within each municipality.
